Jura E6 Review
Let’s dig a little deeper
Design Philosophy of E6
Jura never compromises on the design and build of its automatic coffee machines. As Jura knows well about the effect of First Impressions, E6 seems to fulfill the requirements of a first look.
Jura E6 is fairly a large machine with dimensions of 17.3 x 11 x 13.8 inches and a weight of 22 pounds. It includes 63. Oz water tank. E6 has a really cool drip tray with a lot of capacity, and there’s a bin where it dumps the used coffee grounds.
Remove the bottom drip try after a few cups of coffee because E6 dumps used coffee ground into a holding box that is attached to the drip tray.
E6 comes in two colors; Platinum Jura E6 and Piano White. Both colors are available on Amazon with different price tags. It may be a little expensive for some as it isn’t under $1000, but still, I will say it is a good investment.
On buying, the bundle of Jura E6 comes with:
After unboxing and setting up, your first interaction with E6 would be through its 2.8’’ TFT color display with buttons to program the machine. Though it isn’t a touch screen, you can navigate through colorful animated pictures. If you are a technophile and love to operate through touch-screen, you must check my Jura S8 review.
Another helpful feature is that the coffee spout is easily adjustable. You can adjust the spout according to your cup size, but you can only use cups or glass at most 4.4 inches.
Aroma G3 Grinder
With a G2 Grinder, automatic espresso machines couldn’t give a cup of coffee enriched in taste and aroma. So, Jura came up with something innovative to cope with this curse.
Like Jura’s other machines, E6 comes up with an in-built G3 grinder on the top of the unit. You can fill the bean hopper with fresh whole beans up to 9.9oz; a specially designed cover keeps the beans fresh and safe.
This professional aroma G3 grinder uses modern P.E.P. technology to extract the flavor from every bean. Plus Extraction Process pushes the hot water to the ground beans to optimize the flavor in short intervals.
During this process, P.E.P. uses Jura’s Intelligent Pre-Brew Aroma System (IPBAS). This modern technological process prepares the beans to be fully extracted to enhance the taste and aroma of your coffee.
Grinder in E6 comes with 6-level settings, which gives limited freedom for experiments. Another downside is the absence of a Bypass Chute for ground coffee, so you can’t enjoy occasional decaf.
Coffee Quality / Jura E6 Review
Good News: Jura’s integrated Milk system gives you the option of Cappiccunio. You can choose between regular coffee, espresso, cappuccino, or hot water for tea. To make milk-based drinks, you connect the provided hose to a glass or carton of milk, and the Jura does the rest.
Most importantly, it gives you quality coffee at home with ease of use, maintenance, and various drinks. Its dual coffee spouts allow you to make double espresso or two coffee with the same brew cycle and grind. But in the case of a milk-based drink, you can prepare only one cup of cappuccino as it has a single milk froth spout.
Drinks that E6 offers
Milk Foam
Although E6 offers only Cappuccino, it is worth enjoying. Jura E6 produces great airy milk foam for your desired drink. Plus, it allows you to adjust the volume of the milk foam according to your likeness.
Moreover, the making process is simple enough after setting your preferred volume and amount. Just attach the hose to the milk frother, put the other end in a glass or container, and hit the button for a cappuccino.
One downside is that E6 comes with a Single Thermoblock that limits you from simultaneously preparing either a cup of coffee or milk. Again it isn’t a big deal for a coffee lover to be a barista at home.
Maintenance
Now, I’ll add some maintenance features to my Jura E6 review. It includes a water tank with a capacity of 9,1l. The water tank is enormous, but it uses water to rinse itself. It has a cool drip tray with a lot of capacity, and there’s a bin where it dumps the used coffee grounds.
Jura E6 comes with a hard water test tube to test your water, so you adjust the machine accordingly for better taste. You can also use Jura’s CLEARYL intelligent filter, which connects via RIFD with the I.W.S.
An intelligent Water System makes the machine smart enough to inform you when to refill the tank when to refill the bean hopper, and when to change the filter. You can also use your filtered water to fill the attached water tank, as filters can be expensive for some.
It does an automatic rinsing cycle for both the coffee and milk nozzles. You pull out a tray to dump the spent coffee grounds and the rinse water and then slide it back in. It is recommended to use Jura-made milk detergent to clean the milk system.
I want to mention that Jura E6 doesn’t have the option to attach to a water line, which is not a big deal if you are not in a fancier setup. Further, The Jura also automatically cleans when powering on and right before powering off – so take your time if you’ve brewed some coffee and then hear it run some water after a bit. You can leave a coffee cup under the spouts instead of removing the drip tray every time.
Smart Connect
E6 uses Jura’s J.O.E. or Jura Operating Experience to make the coffee-making process easier and more enjoyable for you. You can even use Jura App on your Apple watch. However, E6 doesn’t connect to WiFi.
But hang on a minute
You can get the assistance of Siri to give commands to your E6. Order E6 to make a cup of coffee by speaking to Siri. All these advanced technologies include E6 among the best automatic espresso machines in the world.
How Does E6 Work?
In this Jura E6 review, I want to add that E6 is one of Jura’s new E lines to stir the process of coffee making with the guarantee of the best aroma for specialty coffees. By utilizing all the modern technological features like colorful LCD, and exclusive Plus Extraction Process, E6 tries its best to maximize the flavor of each cup.
The process of coffee making starts with filling the bean hopper with whole coffee beans. But before starting the machine, you must first fill the water tank. Jura E6 asks about the hardness of your water so that it can adjust the setting accordingly for better taste.
To check the hardness of water, you can use the test strip included in the bundle while purchasing E6. If you want to avoid all this hassle of testing the hardness of water, you can use filtered water.
Once setting up the machine, navigate through the TFT screen by pushing the side buttons. The user interface is relatively easy to use. E6 offers 6 pre-programmed drink options, including cappuccino, Coffee, two coffees, Espresso, two Espresso, and milk foam.
The next exciting thing is it gives you eight coffee strength levels to customize the drinks according to your choice.
If you prepare any milk-based beverage, it starts cleaning the milk system automatically to sustain the taste. However, cleaning the hose manually at the end of the day is recommended.
Worth the Money?
While reviewing, honestly, the Jura e6 lacks some features, which is annoying with this price tag, but you will get the quality drinks it offers. You can brew perfect espresso within no time.
Meanwhile, Its customizable option enables you to enjoy a variety of drinks. If you value a great cup of coffee in the convenience of your home, this Jura machine is for you!
But Don’t Go For It If…
You love a variety of drinks – No doubt that Jura E6 gives a good shot of Espresso and foamy cappuccino, but if you want to enjoy Latte, Cortado, or decaf coffee, you should pick any of the best Jura machines. You have to pay some extra amount to purchase E8, but you can enjoy quality coffee with many extra options for years.
You don’t mind doing frothing – If you can manage time to do milk frothing manually for Latte and Cappuccino, you better consider Gaggia Brera. Having all the other features of E8, It comes with a Pannarello wand for milk-based drinks.
Budget is low – if you are running with budget but still want an automatic espresso machine, check out something under $1000. There are many options to buy an excellent Automatic coffee machine for your home or office.
Comparison of E6
Let’s compare E6 with other automatic espresso machines during the Jura E6 review.
Jura E6 vs Jura E8
If you value the look and work simultaneously, you’d love to have Jura E8 on the shelf of your kitchen. Although they both share P.E.P and I.W.S features to brew an aromatic cup of coffee, E8 has some extra features to justify its price on Amazon.
The main difference between both machines is the number of drinks they offer. E6 offers 6 drinks with the facility of customization. In contrast, E8 allows you to make 17 different traditional to trendy coffees with rich foamy textures. You also can use your pre-ground coffee in E8.
Jura E6 vs Jura ENA 8
Jura E6 and ENA 8 share JURA’s exclusive technology, Pulse Extraction Process (PEP) optimizes extraction time for the perfect espresso. Both come with a TFT color display with buttons.
But ENA 8 is more expensive than E6 because it offers 10 specialties of coffee. Moreover, it has a pre-ground bypass to use pre-ground coffee.
Jura E6 vs Miele CM 6360
The price of Miele is proof of extra features than E6 is. Miele is a German-based brand that offers quality coffee with 17 specialty drinks. In addition. It has a pre-ground Bypass that Jura E6 is missing.
Verdict For Jura E Review
After reviewing Jura E6 thoroughly, you can buy it if you want a super-automatic machine on less budget but with good-quality coffee. Ask yourself whether you like more drinks or ok with the number of drinks offered by E6.
From my side, I believe that Jura makes more expensive coffee makers, but the durability and functionality of coffee machines are something to pay for. After buying Jura E6, you’re going to enjoy it for years.
